Bootcamp

Students took part in an active-educational camp, where they had the opportunity to compete for representatives of Slovenia at the European competition in cyber security. Under the guidance of excellent mentors, they learned about various fields such as Crypto, Network, Organizational and Human Factors, Web, Forensic and much more.
In Portorož, however, we did not only train, but also carried out various activities that brought the participants together even more, which was also the original purpose of the bootcamp itself.

With the final competition, we selected the 10 best individuals who will represent Slovenia at the ECSC, which will take place between September 13 and 16 in Vienna. We will present the competitors on our Twitter page @CyberTeamSI.

Bootcamp

In cooperation with the Government Information Security Office, this year we will organize a bootcamp for students. Mentors will pass on their knowledge and experiences to the participants and present them various forms of attacks and defenses of information systems. In addition to the lectures, we will also organize other activities through which the participants will get to know each other even better.

The bootcamp, which will take place between August 16 and August 19, 2022 in Portorož, will be organized for students aged between 16 and 25. The best individuals will have the opportunity to represent Slovenia at the European Cyber Security Challenge in Vienna.

European Cybersecurity Challenge: A great story of success for 7 years!

Slovenia will participate in European Cybersecurity Challenge (ECSC) for the third time. The ECSC is an initiative of the European Union Agency for Cyber Security (ENISA), in cooperation with 26 European countries, which aims to encourage cyber security talents across Europe and connect high-potential individuals with industry-leading organizations. The competition aims to encourage young IT professionals at an early age of their development, enabling them to succeed later as much needed professionals in global organizations.

In 2021, in preparation for the ECSC, more than 17.000 young talents from across Europe took part in national cybersecurity challenges organized by local organizations, including a grand final in Prague, Czech Republic. There, contestants competed in tasks in the fields of cyber security, mobile security, crypto puzzles, reverse engineering, and forensics. This year’s competition will take place in Norway.

ECSC objectives:

  • To encourage young people to enter the field of cyber security,
  • Identifying cybersecurity talent and promoting their careers,
  • Create a platform where talented IT professionals can connect and exchange ideas directly with potential employers,
  • Unlocking the potential of IT talent in public organizations, private companies, academia, and research organizations,
  • Raise awareness of cyber security in Europe.

OpenECSC - New and Open to All

To encourage even more people to get involved in cybersecurity and to sustainably support the objectives of the ECSC, this year’s OpenECSC will also be organized. Unlike the regular ECSC, which is limited to participants aged 25 or younger, OpenECSC is open to all people, regardless of age, background, or education. It gives everyone the opportunity to participate, demonstrate their knowledge and become part of the community. This is an invitation to all the world’s cyber security enthusiasts!

OpenECSC is promoted by partner organizations in Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa, and is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants from all over the world in its first year.

OpenECSC has also been used for Slovenian Nacional selection for the team that will represent Slovenia at this year’s ECSC in Vienna. Participants who meet the age limits (16-20 years for juniors and 21-25 years for seniors) received a special token to participate in the Slovenian national selection, while everyone else can access OpenECSC without a token at https://www.ecsc2022.eu/about-ecsc/open-ecsc-2022/ and test their knowledge and skills.
